Michael McGuire received his Ph. D. in Cancer Biology from MD Anderson Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, where he studied DNA methylation dynamics in the tumor microenvironment in the lab of Dr. Anil Sood. His work linked DNA methylation of the 3’-untranslated region of immune checkpoint genes in T cells to gene expression, and has resulted in a patent application for inducing demethylation of these regions to stimulate T cell response in tumors. Additionally, Michael studied how mutant proteins may be packaged into exosomes and condition the tumor microenvironment. During his undergraduate career, Michael majored in Microbiology, Immunology, and Molecular Genetics at UCLA, conducting prostate cancer research in the Reiter lab at Geffen School of Medicine.
Michael joined ClearView Healthcare Partners as a consultant in September of 2018. During his time at ClearView, he has completed 10+ projects ranging from prioritizing molecular targets for treatment of cancer, inflammatory, and neurological diseases, to conducting a major investigation in the current and future state of gene therapy across five countries and six types of stakeholders. Most recently, Michael is leading a team that seeks to formulate novel business models for improving treatment rates of metabolic disorders.
