I received my B.S. in Biology from Texas A&M University. Following undergraduate education, I entered the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center UTHealth Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences where I received my M.S in Biomedical Research and Ph.D. in Genetics and Epigenetics. I interned at the Office of Technology Commercialization in 2018 prior to joining the team as a Technology Commercialization Analyst in 2019. As a Technology Analyst, I work with MD Anderson investigators to maximize the value of their inventions, facilitate protection of intellectual property, and develop licensing strategies for each invention.
Most useful skill sets acquired from/for your field:
Technology evaluation. The ability to determine patentability and marketability.
. Large portfolios necessitate being organized, establishing priorities and managing time.
. Everyday involves traversing many interfaces. The tech transfer team must engage with and understand an audience that includes scientists, attorneys, and entrepreneurs.
What I love most about my job:
I enjoy learning about new/innovative technologies and helping to support their entrance into the commercial marketplace.
